Rick Brown - Chair
Rick Brown graduated from the University of Cambridge and King’s College Hospital, London, before completing orthopaedic training on the Middlesex & Stanmore Hospitals rotation, London with Fellowships at Sydney and Harvard, USA. After appointment as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Cheltenham in 2004 he established a new Adult Foot and Ankle Service. He also has an interest in children’s foot problems with an Honorary Consultant at Bristol Children’s Hospital. He is an Examiner for the FRCS (Tr & Ortho).
Callum Clark - Secretary
Callum Clark graduated from Cambridge and completed his orthopaedic training in the north west London training programme, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and Melbourne, Australia. He was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals in 2004 and has a busy foot and ankle surgical practice. He has run an accredited postgraduate Foot and Ankle fellowship programme since 2007, regularly teaches at regional and national courses is co-convenor of a Foot and Ankle Trauma course for SpRs.
Rhys Thomas graduated from University College Hospital in 1990 and completed orthopaedic training in South Wales. He completed Fellowship training at St Michaels Hospital, Toronto and has subsequently been awarded travelling Fellowships by EFAS and AOFAS. He was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in Cardiff in 2003. He has recently finished his term as foot and ankle clinical lead and supervises the local foot and ankle fellowship.
He lectures at national and international foot and ankle courses. He is co-convenor of the RCS Operative Skills in Orthopaedics course and has taught on a number of BOFAS 'Principles' courses. He is part of the steering group for the National Diabetes Foot Care Audit. He is currently undertaking an MD at the School of Biosciences, Cardiff University.

Anna Chapman is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at University Hospitals, Coventry and Warwickshire with a specialist interest in Foot and Ankle surgery. She qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’s Hospitals School of Medicine in London, and completed her orthopaedic training on the Warwick rotation. She undertook Fellowship training in Bournemouth and Bristol, and was appointed as a Consultant in 2012.
She completed a Masters Degree in Medical Education at the University of Warwick in 2010 and continues to pursue her interest in all things educational. Anna is currently the Deputy Training Programme Director for the Warwick Orthopaedic Specialist Training Programme.

Tim Williams graduated from Guy's and St. Thomas' Medical School in 1999, completed his surgical training in London and East Anglia before undertaking his fellowship training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He was appointed as Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Colchester in 2011. Here he has established a working and educational relationship with the British army garrison, supporting the Regional Rehabilitation Unit.
His education interests include training junior doctors as well as allied healthcare practitioners and he has taught on the Oxbridge theatre personnel course. In 2015 he was invited faculty to the inaugural foot and ankle meeting in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Hiro Tanaka is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in Newport, South Wales. He is passionate about improving the quality of surgical training and promoting clinical leadership in the NHS. He designed the BOFAS Principles Course on behalf of the Education Committee in 2010 and continues to be a member of the committee. He is Chairman of the Education and Revalidation Committee of the BOA and is an examiner for the FRCS (Orth).

Michael Butler qualified from Cambridge University and the London Hospital Medical College. Mr Butler trained in Orthopaedic Surgery in the South West of England and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Trauma and Orthopaedics in November 2007.
Mr Butler undertook further specialist training at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre and Frenchay Hospital and at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. He was appointed as a consultant in Truro in 2009.Mr Butler has served in the Army for over 20 years and continues to serve and have a role in teaching military and civilian surgeons on a number of courses as well as regularly conducting outpatient clinics in Germany.
Mr Butler is heavily involved in teaching, is the Peninsula Deanery Training Programme Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics and is a member of the SAC in T&O. He has continued to publish as a consultant and is a Review Board Member for Foot and Ankle Surgery and The Knee.
Ian Sharpe has been a consultant orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre, Exeter since 2003. He graduated from St Mary’s HMS in 1991, and completed his orthopaedic training on the Far South West rotation, undertaking further clinical and research fellowships in Sydney and Seattle. He established the foot and ankle unit in Exeter and was Lead Clinician for Trauma from 2006-10, and was appointed Clinical Director of PEOC in 2014. He has a particular interest in ankle replacement surgery – primary and revision techniques.
Rajesh Kakwani is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust where he leads the Foot and Ankle unit. He completed his Higher Surgical Training at the Northern Deanery, gaining the FRCS (Orth) accreditation in 2012. He undertook fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at Bristol and Sheffield. Mr Kakwani completed the AO Trauma Fellowship in Hannover, Germany & was awarded BOFAS Travelling fellowship to the Sigvard Hansen Foot and Ankle Unit, Seattle. He is and has been a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for the Orthopaedic Specialty Trainees and teaches in a variety of regional and national courses including the BOFAS Principles Course.

Tricia Allen - President
Patricia Allen was trained in orthopaedic surgery in Birmingham and Bristol. She undertook a fellowship in foot and ankle and paediatric orthopaedic surgery in Dublin in 1998 and was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Bristol in 2000. She moved to Leicester as a Consultant in 2003 and has developed the Foot and Ankle service here.
Heath Taylor - Treasurer
Heath Taylor graduated from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in 1994 and completed his Orthopaedic training on the North West Thames training rotation. He carried out his fellowship in complex foot and ankle surgery at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. He is currently a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot & Ankle surgery at The Royal Bournemouth & Poole Hospitals. He takes a particular interest in training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons and in 2012 was voted the Wessex Region Trainer of the Year.

Robert Clayton - Media and Communications Officer
Robert Clayton moved to Edinburgh in 1994 and graduated in 2000. He undertook Basic and Higher Surgical training in the South East Scotland region. He undertook fellowship training in Foot & Ankle surgery in Glasgow in 2009 before taking up post as a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon in Fife in 2010. He has a highly specialised elective and trauma foot and ankle practice. He has an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and orthopaedic research. He is a council member of the Foot and Ankle Scotland group and has served on faculty at numerous courses and conferences in the region.
James Davis - President Elect
James Davis graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1990 and completed surgical training in London. His orthopaedic training was in the South Thames region. He was fellowship trained at the University of Johns Hopkins, USA. He was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Torbay Hospital in 2001. He started a specialist foot and ankle service in South Devon and runs the South West Foot and Ankle Centre.
