BOFAS Principles of Foot & Ankle Surgery - Dunfermline (Course now Full)

The BOFAS Principles Course is an exciting course designed to teach the core foot & ankle content in the FRCS (Orth) curriculum in an informal and interactive environment. There is emphasis on clinical examination cases, discussion groups and opportunity for simulating exam conditions.

Course Content

  • Clinical examination of the foot and ankle
  • Foot and ankle anatomy and biomechanics
  • Degenerative foot and ankle conditions
  • Acquired flat foot
  • Deformity and neuromuscular disorders
  • Rheumatoid disorders
  • Diabetic foot and Charcot
  • Principles of orthoses
  • Foot and ankle trauma

Teaching Style

  • Pre-course material: 8 hours on-line Principles Course lectures to watch with Principles 21 Learning Log to complete prior to attendance on the course. 
  • Small group Case-Based Discussions and patient clinical examination sessions (patient volunteers if possible, and/or simulated cases if not due to COVID-19).
  • Vivas

Pre-course work - 1 day of private study leave to be taken by trainee prior to course.

The Principles 21 Learning Log will need to be completed and submitted prior to the course in order to recieve course certifiate and CPD points. Deadlines will be published in due course. 

Day 1  10:00hrs - 18:00hrs

Day 2  08:00hrs - 16:30hrs

Lunch and refreshments included.  Course Dinner on day 1 optional.

Please note that the course dinner cannot be cancelled without charge on the day, so if you wish to cancel you will need to give 14 days notice.
