The course is deliberately interactive: there are no long didactic lectures and there is no traditional faculty/delegate split. The fellows provide the reviews of the medical literature on a range of topics and the faculty will be imparting ‘tips and tricks’ and the benefit of their experience. Each mini-session of talks is followed by discussion time, in which fellows will also take turns to chair in order to encourage all of those around the table to contribute. In the ‘break-out’ sessions the main group is split into four smaller groups for focused discussion on controversies and topical issues in Foot & Ankle surgery, through the review of specific clinical cases.
In addition there is a final cadaveric day, which will give fellows an opportunity to learn some tips and tricks from the faculty and consolidate the learning from time spent on fellowship programmes.
Finally, given that the forum is designed specifically for current and future fellows, BOFAS will be relying very much on the feedback to shape its development and improvement. This is collected via an online feedback form, which will be emailed to each fellow at the end of the course.
